James Cabaniss
President
Jim, a mechanical engineer, has over 50 years of experience in the laboratory industry. As founder of MSI in 1962 Jim noticed a need for a specialty laboratory service company that could protect the owner’s interests and insure proper design and installation of laboratory equipment. Fifty years ago (in 1958) as a young Mechanical Engineer he was responsible for a laboratory installation at Dow Chemical Co. in Freeport, Texas. During the next three years, he became responsible for five laboratory installations at Dow. Since that time he has overseen thousands of laboratory installation and construction projects in this specialized industry. It was then that he noticed a need for a laboratory products company. Lab plumbing service fixtures had index buttons, serrated hose ends, vacuum breakers, aspirators, etc. The drain materials had to handle highly caustic acids and solvents. These materials could not be found in the local hardware store or plumbing supply houses. These specialty hard-to-find items often took 90 days to 180 days to deliver. A shorter delivery time was desperately needed. Under Jim’s direction MSI Lab Products sourced these hard to find items and stocked them making them available to colleges, universities, high schools, industrial plants, hospitals, etc. throughout the United States.
David Lattimore
Project/Products Manager
With a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston in Industrial Technology, David adds a great deal of laboratory construction expertise to MSI Products, Inc. David has been in the laboratory construction business for 25 years starting with MSI, Inc. He began his career as a purchasing specialist and excelled to project manager. He has spent time with such companies as Halliburton and US Oncology. David enjoys using his experience managing special projects and our highly specialized products division, MSI Lab Products. He helped to develop our three step approach to exhaust system certification and preventive maintenance.
Michael Smith
Project Manager
Mike has served in the laboratory industry for 25 years. He worked for thirteen years as a field craftsman and jobsite foreman, and twelve years as a project manager and estimator completing numerous projects involving the installation of laboratory casework, fixtures, and equipment across America. Many of his projects were turnkey encompassing plumbing, electrical and fume exhaust systems. His accomplishments include estimating, bidding, and managing the laboratory installation of an eleven story facility at the University of Texas SW Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He designed and built numerous exhaust systems for fume hoods at Champion Technologies of Fresno, Texas. These systems required exhaust of highly toxic hydrogen sulfide gases keeping the lab technicians in the facility safe. He developed and managed a complete lab facility maintenance contract for Westport Technologies in Houston, Texas. As a licensed journeyman plumber and proven project manager Mike brings his many years of experience back to MSI Products adding significantly to the MSI team.
James Reimer
Project Manager/Safety Coordinator
James comes to MSI Products, Inc. with several certifications in the field of industrial safety. He has worked as a safety coordinator for 8 years. James is an experienced project manager completing numerous installation projects entailing the installation and certification of the fume exhaust systems for customers such as Chevron Texaco, Total Petrochemicals, Rhom& Haas, and The University of Houston and many others. James’ training in the field of safety offers the experience required to head the MSI Products, Inc. fume exhaust inspection and maintenance team certifying fume exhaust systems according to OSHA and ANSI standards. James efforts as safety coordinator helps MSI and our clients provide employees with the highest level of safety in their work environments.
Crystal Miller
Administrative Assistant
Crystal brings 12 years of administrative experience to the front office of MSI Products, Inc. Crystal upholds the efficiency of our front office handling the day to day accounting needs such as accounts payable and accounts receivable, along with assisting customers and our project managers in her typically cheerful and accommodating manner. By introducing a new level of efficiency in this area Crystal helps to hold costs down thereby helping MSI Products to continue to be an economical source for our clients.
